Making a Poker Stat Calculator

If youve read my post about developing a Poker hand generator then youl know the original plan was to make a tool to calculate possible outcomes. Well, in this post we do just that. The main idea behind the app is to allow a player to learn and understand the percentages and possible outcomes of a hand in order to better your knowledge of the game.

To do this i heavily edited the hand generator to do several more checks upon each card thats dealt, deciding whats possible and whats not. This was a lot more work than the actual hand generator, but suprisingly not as difficult to figure out.

The user can select how many players are involved, and how many cards have been dealt out. You can pre define each card and set out scenarios as it suits. From there you can learn what outcomes are possible and the percentages of it happening. From using the tool youl soon notice that many scenarios have the same percentages, allowing you to easily remember them for when your playing a live/online game of poker.

The tool can be used while your playing, but most online games have fast reaction times, so using the tool in instances where you need to act quickly may not be suitable. However, i was at a home game with a player who had never played Poker before, so i pulled up the app on his phone and it allowed him to understand the strengths of his hands enough to actually win the game. Not to let that fool you though, the tool cant actually be used to win games, but more allow the player to make better and more wise decisions, while learning a deeper level of the game.

Further expansion of the tool is underway with a section that will determin the possible cards the opposite player may hold. This is even more work and you may from time to time see a section below the main tool that is spitting out random info. If you do this, its just me testing, and you should ignore it for now! A seperate post will be made once that is completed, but its a side project that will take some time.

For now you can use the standard Poker Hand Calculator to your hearts content by Clicking Here
